Eukanuba Dog Wins Best In Show At Crufts 2009

Winning the highly coveted Best In Show award at Crufts is a colossal achievement and a dream of every breeder. BIS judge, Peter Green, says, "It was a great honour judging BIS at Crufts. The only thing better than judging it is to win BIS there. It was a very difficult decision between the Sealyham and the Standard Poodle. I admire the breeder/handler of the Standard Poodle. The dog was extremely fit and has so much presence about him. His coat was natural and wonderful to the touch. My terrier background may have had some influence on my final choice as I realise how difficult it is to have a Sealyham looking that great in top form with his immaculate coat. He is definitely the best of his breed I have seen anywhere in the world, so I eventually chose him."

Marge Good and her 'Charmin', Sealyham Terrier, "Am/Can/SU Ch Efbe's Hidalgo at Goodspice", defeated over 22,500 dogs to claim the crown, adding another treasured accolade to their outstanding and unparalleled show ring successes. Multi BIS winning Charmin, owned and handled by Marge Good was BIS at the FCI World Show in Sweden 2008; and BIS at the 2007 AKC/Eukanuba National Championship - this qualified them to represent the USA in the 2008 Eukanuba World Challenge where they won the runner-up title. Marge says of Charmin "He is such a special dog, he is my best buddy." Marge attributes much of their success as a team, to having a great dog with the right attitude, giving the correct exercise, proper coat care and excellent nutrition from the beginning. Charmin is primarily fed on Eukanuba premium dog food, although Marge admits coyly "He is like any dog and loves to get some of my special treats."

RBIS was awarded to the striking white Standard Poodle, Donny (UK & Am Ch Afterglow The Big Tease) bred, owned and handled by Mike Gadsby and co-owned with Jason Lynn. Donny is the UK's 2008 all breeds top-winning dog, and represented the UK at the Eukanuba World Challenge 2008, as a finalist competing for the title. Mike said, "We thoroughly enjoyed the experience at Crufts and are proud beyond words. We were delighted with Reserve Best In Show".

Three of the seven group winning dogs at Crufts presented in the BIS lineup were representatives at the Eukanuba World Challenge 2008. The BIS winner was the USA representative; the RBIS winner was the UK representative; and the pastoral group winner, the Old English Sheepdog, was the Swedish representative, "Am Ch Villa's Cruella At Dizzny" - an excellent representation of top-winning dogs from around the world.
